For years we have been recycling plastics, glass and more, but I recently discovered our future is recycling food scraps into energy. Community members sign up for service and their food scraps are picked up bi weekly. Their buckets are sprayed with vinegar, wiped clean and a new compostable bag is inserted and attached with a rubber band for the next two weeks. The organics are brought to OHSWA to be turned into Energy.
Our logo was made in house with many of our drawn images. This one was made to be the center of our theme, but as an optical illusion proved to be so much more than expected over time. The image consists of the first image: an iconic apple core to represent food scraps. The second image: two faces that create the cut outs on the sides of the apple core. The faces turned out to be more valuable as our community members joined our project. It turns out that if it weren't for the committed community of partners we wouldn't be here today, thank you CNY Green Bucket Project Community!
